BEHIND THE BIZ

As I edge closer to launching my very first course, I find myself craving validation.

It seems like a universal struggle, doesn't it?

You feel confident that you're on the right track, or at least did a good job convincing yourself that your ā€˜geniusā€™ business idea is a winner, but sometimes, you're waiting for the cash to prove it.

But here's the truth: validation is fleeting.

Once you get it, you'll soon need more. Then, what happens if you don't get validation?

You get stuck.

You get frustrated.

You give up.

But what I've learned over these past few years in business, consistently dipping my toes into new ventures or side gigs, the first believer has to be you.

Little Kahlil šŸ‘€

YOU have to be the one to validate your idea because youā€™re the one whoā€™s going to sell it (and if you donā€™t believe in it, neither will your buyers).

ā€¦And if youā€™re still unsure about your idea, which is ALWAYS the case with a new idea, you've got to trust in your power that youā€™re making a real difference.

Even if this idea isnā€™t the million-dollar idea, maybe it makes a difference in the hands of a few AND plants seeds for better, more aligned iterations of this or additional ideas in the future.

All this to say, if youā€™re trapped in the validation loop when creating something new, realign yourself by asking these two questions

What difference can I make in my community?

Do I believe in myself? And if not my current self, does the younger version of me, believe in current me?

Younger me would be so proud of current me. But alsoā€¦ what were my parents thinking dressing me like this?! šŸ’€

SUCCESS SHORTCUTS

With inflation, layoffs, and uncertainty on the rise, itā€™s no wonder so many are turning to entrepreneurship for one of three reasons: money, fulfillment, or hope.

Whether youā€™re looking to become an entrepreneur or just create something on the side, freelance or consulting work is a phenomenal way to create security for yourself.

Weā€™ve all seen the shifting landscape of work since COVID, but with the rise in freelancing (22% increase in the US alone) thereā€™s a growing acceptance of this career path as a viable, respected full-time option.

As more people enter the freelance and consulting space, youā€™ll need to stand out, and to stand out you have to have an offer thatā€™s impossible to say no to.

CRAFTING A KILLER OFFER:

Itā€™s really easy to become overwhelmed with the process of brainstorming and then actually creating the offer (I should know), but one way to think about your offer is like a meal at your favorite restaurant.

Your offer is the main course.

Your sales page is the menu description.

Your advertising is the carefully curated music and aesthetic of the restaurant.

And your marketing is the aroma wafting out of the kitchen.

What kind of meal are you dishing up?

To Create a Winning Offer:

1ļøāƒ£ Define your target audience

2ļøāƒ£ Identify their pain points and goals

3ļøāƒ£ Focus on the outcomes they'll achieve

4ļøāƒ£ Price it accordingly

But don't forget: like the restaurant analogy, keep it simple and make it irresistible.

Your offer is the foundation of your business.

Make sure it's strong, delicious, and impossible to resist.

PODCAST POWER-UP

This week on the Unstuckkd Podcast and our first episode of Season 3, I sat down with Ben Arthur, a celebrated NFL reporter and the engaging host of the Pinnacle Code podcast.

A lifelong sports aficionado, Ben's journey from his early days in Laredo, Texas, to covering some of the major teams in the NFL, is a riveting narrative of determination and growth.

šŸŽ¤ Words of Wisdom

For those who dream of a career in sports journalism, Ben's advice is akin to finding a playbook for success. He emphasized the importance of remaining authentic, the dedication required to build and maintain relationships, and the unyielding passion necessary to overcome challenges and celebrate milestones.

SOCIAL SCOOP

Could TikTok finally get banned?!

If you havenā€™t seen the news, TikTok, the Chinese-based social media giant that has dominated the internet over the past few years, could soon be banned from 100 million users in the U.S.

Though this has been in talks since July 2022, it was only yesterday, Wednesday, March 13th, that the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass a law forcing the app to be sold by its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, or face a statewide ban.

The driving factor behind the ban is the U.S. government's concerns with data privacy.

In basic terms, the U.S. doesnā€™t want a Chinese-based company to have access to all kinds of data from you, the user, like what you watch, your age, and location, but also more serious things like sensitive information shared publicly or in private messages, as well as how you use your device.

As someone who got their start on TikTok, and used the App to build a business and create long-lasting friendships, the idea of it being banned is sad.

It makes me sad that a platform that has single-handedly changed millions of peopleā€™s lives, like it has mine, could be gone in an instant.

And itā€™s not just about the business aspect and potentiality that a viral video could do for just ā€˜an ordinary person,ā€™ but itā€™s in the fact that a ā€˜safeā€™ online space for those looking to practice a new form of self-expression, could be gone.

We donā€™t know yet if the App will be officially banned (weā€™ll have to see if the Senate passes it), but I share this as a reminder that as a business owner, you canā€™t put your eggs all in one basket.

As you think about monetizing your ideas and creating offers, actively start thinking about how those can be shared across different channels and whether you truly own them or not (this is why I emphasize building an email list).

What do you think about the TikTok ban? Is this throwing a wrench in your business plans?

Thanks for reading!
